Oliver & Olivia chose a very special extra virgin olive oil for their little friends. The very late harvested Arbequina olives are very soft in taste and very low in acidity, so they will easily be loved by your little ones. The fatty acids, with high levels of omega 3 and vitamin E, are very important for a good brain development and body & bones growth. When used in babies’ food, the olive oil acts as a delivery system, helping the body to absorb the vitamins and nutrients in food, which do so much good for them.

Extra virgin olive oil is not only important for your little ones, it also helps with their palate development, and makes every dish taste so much better. Paediatric dietitians recommend the following doses:

4 - 9 months: 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil/ day
9 - 24 months: 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil/ day
2 - 3 years: 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil/ day

It is good to vary the oils you are using: we recommend varying between different polyunsaturated ones (sunflower/canola/rapeseed) and our olive oil (or avocado oil which also is high in monounsaturated fatty acids) and most importantly: do not forget about oily fish!

Important: Fat is baby’s and toddler’s first source of energy and their main source of essential fatty acids and vitamin E. They are essential to the psychomotor development of little ones, their nervous system, their vision, their immune system, their cardiovascular system ... At around 1 year old, the baby's brain reaches 2/3 of its adult size. It is made up of more than 50% of fat, mostly omega 3 and DHA. These 2 nutrients are said to be essential because the body does not know how to make them. It is recommended that, until the age of 3, the fats must account for about 50% of your little ones' diet. However, unfortunately, once dietary diversification begins, we very often see a lack of essential fatty acids in toddlers’ foods. The fatty acid intake is particularly important for babies, both in quantity (they need 3 to 5 times higher quantities than adults) and quality.
